Basic Marauder Stats & Information

The Terran Marauder is primarily a support unit that can devastate enemy structures and armored vehicles from a distance. They redesigned the old Firebat suits with Quad K12 Punisher grenade launchers instead of the close range flamethrowers. These big changes were made not only to help against new Terran and Protoss technologies, but also to stand up to the Zerg units with especially hard carapaces. Marauders are almost as durable as tanks and much more mobile, making them an effective support unit against all the enemies of the Dominion.

Terran Marauder Abilities

The Terran Marauder is the anti-armor ground specialist of the Terran army. Their Punisher Grenades can only hit ground targets, and their DPS is not very good against any non-armored unit, so they should almost always be supported by Marines. A group of Zealots or Zerglings will rip through a group of Marauders because they lack the damage output to take care of them.
While on paper 1 Marauder’s DPS is quite similar to 2 Marines, Marauder’s really shine against armored units with upgraded armor, like the Ultralisk. It takes roughly 25 Marauder shots to kill an Ultralisk (assuming both units are fully upgraded), while it would take about 167 Marine shots, quite a difference! In other words, 5 stimmed Marauders could take out an Ultralisk in 5 seconds, while it would take 10 stimmed Marines (roughly the same cost) about 19 seconds. So as you can see they have their niche.
Marauders, like Marines, have access to the Stimpack ability, increasing their attack speed and movement speed by 50%. Since Marauders are so much more durable, the Stimpack costs 20 life for the Marauder to use.
Marauders also can be upgraded with Concussive Shells, which is a passive ability that slows any enemy hit by the Marauder. The slow lasts for 1.5 seconds and slows the enemy’s movement speed by 50%. Concussive Shells have no effect on massive units. Marauders with both the Stimpack and Concussive Shell upgrades are a great way to ensure enemy units cannot run away from your army.
